Getting Around, Gyor Travel, Transport and Car Rental

(Gyor, Gyor-Moson-Sopron, Hungary)

Aerial picturePublic transport in Gyor comes in the form of local buses, which travel all over the city and connect its surrounding suburbs. Buses are also on hand to transport passengers further afield from Gyor, to destinations such as the nearby capital of Hungary, Budapest.

Those choosing to travel around Gyor by hire car will soon discover that parking is not only difficult, but it can also be a costly affair as well. Therefore, it is often easier to leave your car at the hotel and only use it to explore areas outside of the city, relying on local bus transport to travel around the central streets, which can be a little intimidating for the uninitiated.

Car Rental

Renting a car at Budapest Ferihegy Airport is certainly a relatively simple and painless way to travel into Gyor. However, once here, driving around central Gyor can be quite a challenge, since many of the streets are now one-way only and quite confusing. Parking can also be difficult, although those intending to spend time exploring Hungary's Western Transdanubia region will find many appealing cities close by, such as both Sopron and Szombathely.

Those travelling to Slovakia from Gyor will need to change trains at the city of Komárom.
