Nuremberg Property Market and Real Estate Guide

(Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany)

The Bavarian city of Nuremberg is the state's second largest after Munich. Despite being known internationally for its connections to the post-WWII Nuremberg Trials, the city offers much more than a historical past in the form of a charming medieval old town that many first-time visitors are surprised to learn of.

Buying property here makes for a good investment, since prices are cheaper here than in more prominent German cities. Rentals are highly sought after as the city is home to many businesses that attract an overseas work force. Munich is just over two hour's drive away, making it possible to commute to.

The Lorenzer Seite area of Nuremberg is set in the south and there are many old properties here that are available mainly for purchase. Rentals can be found in the city centre, close to the downtown region, and the Pegnitz River provides the setting for some of the plusher properties.

There are many cafés and clubs that play live music, making Nuremberg a popular place with the younger generation. The annual Christmas Market brings in numerous visitors, while many shops and entertainment venues line the streets in the heart of the city year-round.

Renting Serviced Apartments

It is possible to rent serviced apartments in Nuremberg, with the main congregation found close to the business centre and a few dotted around the suburbs. Furnishings are usually slightly less modern than what one would expect from a Westernised city, although there are a handful of apartments for rent that offer trendy décor.

Air conditioning is also available, while the more you pay, the more likely you are to get a regular maid service along with security. Rented apartments in the core of the city tend to be more modern in their offerings than those further out, and a typical deposit for a one-year rental is one month's rent.

Buying Apartments and Houses

Germany is a fairly straightforward place to purchase property, although foreigners should watch out for 'bargain' deals that need a lot of restoration, which may or may not be permitted. Germans often buy properties for a lifetime and do not move around as regularly as other home owners in the rest of Europe. Finding a property for sale is best done via an agent.

Real Estate Agents

Real estate agents in Nuremberg play a vital role in finding properties for investors. English-speaking agents are easy to find and the Internet is the best way to get in contact with an agent.
