Nuremberg Airport is the second-busiest in Bavaria and the main air hub for one of Germany's biggest airlines, Air Berlin. Air France and Air Lufthansa also operate here, with flights to over 60 destinations across Europe. Over four million passengers pass through the airport every year, most of them heading to the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands, Egypt and the rest of Germany.

Upon arriving at Nuremberg Airport, passengers are immediately plugged into the city's well-developed public transportation network, which provides easy access to the city and surrounding areas. Buses, coaches, trams and trains are all available, as well as car rental, suiting those who don't want to use public transport.

The airport of Nuremberg has three passenger terminals, one for arrivals and two for departures. Passengers can watch take-offs and landings from the observation deck, which is open 24 hours. Passengers will also be able to enjoy a range of eating options, including a bistro, a restaurant, bakeries, fast-food outlets and a bar.

Nuremberg Airport is located 7 km / 5 miles north of the city, being close to the suburbs of Buchenbuhl, Kraftshof and Ziegelstein, and well-connected to surrounding areas. Erlangen and Herzogenaurach lie to the north-west, while Heroldsberg is to the north-east and Lauf an der Pegnitz to the east.

Car

Car hire is readily available at the airport. The Erlanger Strasse (B4) connects the airport with Nuremberg city centre, passing by Thon, Bielingplatz and St. Johannis. This journey takes around 20 minutes. Many autobahns converge on the city, including the A3, the A6 and also the A9, offering quick connections to other German cities.

Buses

A bus stop is located just outside Terminal 1's Departures exit, with frequent services running to the city centre and taking around 30 minutes. Passengers can connect to the tram service by taking bus number 32. The city's tram system is especially popular with tourists, as it is an old-fashioned way to reach the main attractions of the city.

Trains

The airport is linked to the city's main rail station by subway. Trains running on the U2 line take just 12 minutes to reach the city. Nuremberg's rail system connects to destinations around the country, with Munich and Berlin, as well as Germany's surrounding countries, all being easily accessible by train.

Taxis are available 24 hours from outside the Departures hall and can take passengers to the heart of Nuremberg in around 15 to 20 minutes. Passengers can book taxis through the Taxi Centre in advance, to save time and hassle on arrival. Shuttle and limousine services are also available in a range of vehicles.
