Re. Not great for the kids but still interesting for me
My kids were bored too. One good place that you will enjoy, and perhaps they might too, is The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. It's also a lot closer to Stoke-on-Trent centre at just under a mile and a half and free to the public.

Not great for the kids but still interesting for me
I admit that my kids were bored out of their minds at the Gladstone Pottery Museum but for my wife and I it was a completely different story. Easy to find less than two and a half miles from Stoke-on-Trent centre and a key insight into pottery's history and how it has evolved over the ages.

Re. Such a lovely house and gardens
The Italian Garden is fantastic and the obvious choice but I think I'd go for the Floral Labyrinth or the Rivers Grass. This attraction is children-friendly as there is a great playground on the premises.

Such a lovely house and gardens
I can definitely see why the Trentham Estate has won so many awards and think that even those without an interest in horticulture won't be able to deny its beauty. Less than three miles from Stoke-on-Trent centre and easy to access. My personal favourite was Tom Stuart-Smith's The Italian Garden. Interested to hear yours.

A tour of a local factory
We don't have children and concede that they might have been bored here but anyway, the Emma Bridgewater Factory Tour was great for us. It has a fantastic gift shop that offers discontinued patterns and if the kids do start tugging on your arm, Alton Towers is near enough for you to send them into a frenzy.
