Blackpool International Airport (BLK) Information
(Blackpool, Lancashire, England, UK)
Blackpool International Airport has now served the perennially popular seaside resort of Blackpool for over a century - quite an achievement for any air facility. The complex boasts its own seaside location along Lancashire's Fylde coast, in the borough of the same name. Many of the 200,000-plus people who use this small airport each year arrive / depart during the peak summer tourism season. Mainly it is handy for locals flying out on package holidays, while inbound tourists are usually Brits, arriving by bus, train or car, rather than flying.
Jet2 flights to Tenerife
, as well as Aer Lingus flights to Dublin
, are available throughout the year. However, Blackpool International Airport also offers seasonal flights to Belfast City
, the Isle of Man, Jersey
and the Spanish getaways of Mallorca
, Murcia and Malaga
This airport, now comfortably within the UK's 40 busiest list, underwent a major renovation of its car parks and single terminal in 2006. The terminal now includes a new departures lounge, additional check-in counters, and more places to eat and shop than before.
