Photo taken at the East Ring ShowThere really are events taking place throughout the year in the New Forest, the most popular of which include guided walks, local country shows, seasonal festivals and carnival processions. Things to do here are certainly at their most plentiful during the summer season, with the New Forest and Hampshire County Show being amongst the most significant events.

Staged annually at the end of each July at the New Park in Brockenhurst, the New Forest and Hampshire County Show is always a crowd-puller and takes place over a period of three days. Those coming to this countryside festival can expect to find approximately 50 trade exhibitors, as well as handicraft exhibitions, food stalls, livestock, horse jumping, sheep shearing displays and horticultural displays.

New Forest Calendar of Festivals and Events 2014 / 2015: General Information

There is plenty to be seen in and around the New Forest during the month of May, since this is when the azaleas at the Exbury Gardens burst into flower. Also in the springtime is the Appletree Court plant sale at Lyndhurst, and a popular boat show at Beaulieu.

Leading summer festivals in the New Forest area include various garden-related events at Exbury, and frequent fireworks displays at Beaulieu, where open-air concerts are also held all through the summer. When September arrives, keen runners head to Station Road in the heart of New Milton, ready to compete in the New Forest Marathon. Another popular September event is the 'auto jumble sale' at the Beaulieu National Motor Museum, which attracts classic car enthusiasts from far and wide.
