Cheltenham Hotels and Accommodation

(Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, UK)

Picture of the Mercure Queens HotelAlthough hotels and B&Bs are fairly easy to come by in Cheltenham, the plentiful summer festivals and seasonal horse racing can greatly affect the availability of accommodation at times. Therefore, those headed to Cheltenham during the festivals and racing are strongly advised to book well ahead of their arrival.

During the busiest times, hotels in Cheltenham understandably are at their most pricey, with lodging rates being greatly reduced during the considerably quieter winter months. However, both Christmas and the New Year period is the exception to this, with the best accommodation quickly filling up.

Where to Stay

There is lodging to suit all different budgets in Cheltenham, with budget travellers favouring the YMCA youth hostel on Victoria Walk. In the Easter and summer holidays, it is also possible to find cheap accommodation at the University of Gloucestershire.

Many of the hotels in Cheltenham tend to be based within the Montpellier area of the town, being found around roads such as Bath Road, Montpellier Drive and Trafalgar Street. Further B&Bs and similar guesthouses provide affordable accommodation along Evesham Road, Lypiatt Road, Montpellier Terrace, St. Luke's Road and Shurdington Road, often occupying period Victorian town houses.

For fine views across central Cheltenham and the beautiful Imperial Gardens, the Queen's Hotel on the Promenade offers luxury accommodation and a past guest list that includes royalty.
