Lyme Regis Art Galleries

(Lyme Regis, Dorset, England, UK)

Central beachfront viewThere are several commercial art galleries to be found within central Lyme Regis, offering the chance to appreciate the works of local artists and purchase a 'classy' seaside souvenir.

A number of art studios are also based in the Lyme Regis area and open their doors to the public on special occasions. Each year in September, the Lyme Regis Arts Festival sees a host of various art-related events all over the town.

Every other year, the Dorset Art Week is a major event throughout the region, seeing in excess of 800 different Dorset artists opening their studios, houses and barns. This is certainly a real highlight in Lyme Regis and the town sees the arrival of a sculpture garden, which is often based at Little Place.

General Information

A regular fixture of Lyme Regis is the renowned 'stone balancer' Adrian Gray, who literally balances enormous stones in almost unbelievable poses, and then take artists photos of his temporary creations, which he later sells as limited edition prints. Adrian Gray can often been seen balancing stones on Lyme Regis beach, so do look out for his magical, seemingly impossible sculptures.
