The Limassol Municipal Art Gallery should certainly always be your first port of call, followed soon after by a trip to the one of the multitude of commercial galleries to pick up a souvenir with a difference.

Tourists often enjoy a visit to the city's Folk Art Museum, while the Limassol Sculpture Park is another magnet for art lovers. This unusual Sculpture Parks spans just over 1 mile / 1.6 km and stretches along the scenic coastline of Twin Cities Park, comprising some 20 sizable, stylish contemporary sculptures in total.

Limassol Municipal Art Gallery is a popular attraction and actively promotes the work of local Cypriot artists, and well as exhibiting pieces by more accomplished artists from across Cyprus. Paintings and art works here tend to be of a fairly contemporary nature and many are on permanent display. The most noteworthy paintings include both the 'Chariot drawn by two donkeys' by Kashalos and the 'Women looking at the sea' by Diamandis.

Folk Art Museum

The Folk Art Museum at Limassol is a fairly mediocre attraction, although it is conveniently just a short walk from the city centre, where it is located on the Agiou Andreou (St. Andrew Street) and within an attractive historic mansion. Exhibits include everything from traditional wooden sculptures and national Cypriot costumes, to paintings, detailed jewellery, embroidered fabrics, and various utensils used for domestic purposes. To make your visit more enjoyable, do consider purchasing the museum guidebook, which clearly explains what the displays are all about.
