Port Douglas Hotels and Accommodation

(Port Douglas, Far North Queensland - QLD, Australia)

Picture showing the popular Court House HotelAlthough Port Douglas may not be known for its budget accommodation, the town's hotels are certainly of a high standard and well-placed for access to the famous Four Mile Beach and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the rainforest of North Queensland. The centre of Port Douglas has successfully managed to retain something of a village feel, with tall palm trees towering high above many of the hotels and motels.

Several very decent youth hostels provide the best budget lodging in town, with Macrossan Street being a particularly convenient place to stay, close to the action. Located on Macrossan Street is the extremely useful 'Accommodation Port Douglas' office, which helps visitors to find available accommodation, ranging from hotels to luxury holiday rentals, private villas and self-contained apartments. These offerings are not only located in Port Douglas, but around the neighbouring beaches of Newell, Oak and Wonga.

Where to Stay

One to look out for is the highly recommended Parrotfish Backpackers Resort on Warner Street, which also serves as an official PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) dive resort.

Providing a good-value alternative to hotels is Dougie's Backpackers Resort on Davidson Street, which ranks as one of the towns cheapest and is just 300 metres / 985 feet from the beach, whilst being connected to the town centre by regular courtesy buses.
