Port Douglas Events, Things to Do and Festivals 2014 / 2015
(Port Douglas, Far North Queensland - QLD, Australia)
Although there are a number of seasonal events and things to do hosted each year in Port Douglas, two celebrations certainly stand out from the crowd.
Each year towards the end of May, the Port Douglas Carnivale (Village Carnival) is one of the region's biggest festivals and comprises a colourful procession along Macrossan Street, food and drink stalls, live music, fireworks and various sporting events. Also known as the Reef and Rainforest Carnivale, the Port Douglas Carnivale lasts for around ten days, attracting more than 10,000 visitors.
Very much of note in Port Douglas and rivalling the carnival in terms of popularity is the Go Troppo Arts Festival in October, which spans two weekends towards the end of October and features live music and entertainment, theatrical events, visual arts and various studio exhibitions.
