Canberra Churches and Cathedrals

(Canberra, Australian Capital Territory - ACT, Australia)

Canberra ChurchesThere is certainly no lack of churches within the city of Canberra, with places of worship located all over the city. Unlike many other state capitals in Australia, Canberra has just one cathedral (not two).

Located alongside the shopping district and just across from the Manuka Oval, St. Christopher's Cathedral serves the Roman Catholic community and is known for its annual ceremonies attended by Parliament of Australia members.

Just a few blocks to the east is St. Paul's Anglican Church of Manuka, which is famed for its unusual architecture, blending aspects of Gothic design with Art Deco. Interestingly, the towers feature the only complete set of bells within the whole of the Australian Capital Territory, a number of which were cast in England and shipped over, many years ago.
