Since Java is such a diverse and spreading island, visitors are treated to an array of cultural events, with a number of very noteworthy festivals being based within Bandung and around West Java. Some of the most popular seasonal things to do in Bandung include art and music festivals, Islamic religious events, markets and harvest celebrations.

Located on the Jalan Braga, the Landmark Convention Hall is where many of the biggest events take place in Bandung, with these including an annual Islamic book fair and numerous concerts. Especially popular is the Braga Festival, which takes place each December and lasts around three days, featuring stage events, lots of stalls selling traditional Indonesian fare, and plenty of live music and dancing.

Other prominent events that take place in Bandung most years include the Festival Jajanan Bango, the International Performance Art Festival, the Nu-Substance Festival, and also the Asian International Art Show, which is held at the Selasar Sunaryo Art Space (SSAS).

If you are visiting Bandung during April, then look out for the festivities involved with the Kawin Tebu Ceremony. This event is based around the thriving sugar cane industry and includes large prayer sessions, when the new crop of sugar cane is ready to be planted.
