Udaipur Hotels and Accommodation

(Udaipur, Rajasthan, India)

Photo of grand hotel architectureThere are many hotels to choose from within Udaipur, offering both romantic and more functional accommodation for visitors. Much of the most desirable lodging in Udaipur comes in the form of hotels next to the shore of Lake Pichola itself. If you are staying lakeside, do be sure to request a room which actually faces the lake - it may be a little more expensive, but the views will more than make up for any additional cost involved.

Hotels tend to be either concentrated directly to the west of the Jagdish Temple, or away from Udaipur's busy tourist scene and in the relatively peaceful area around the Hanuman Ghat, on the opposite side of Lake Pichola. Seasonal discounts are commonplace in Udaipur and there tends to be a large choice of budget accommodation than mid-range lodging.

Where to Stay

Budget hotels in Udaipur are clustered around both the Lal Ghat and Hanuman Ghat areas, being just a short auto rickshaw ride from the main places of interest.

The best choices of accommodation tend to reside along stretches such as the Bhim Permashever Marg, Ganesh Ghat Road, the Gangaur Ghat Road, and also on the Lake Palace Road.

Offering accommodation at its very finest, the Taj Lake Palace Hotel is on the expensive side, but for many, its dreamy setting on 4-acre / 1.5-hectare Jagniwas Island, within Lake Pichola, is the main reason that people stay here and is connected to the mainland by regular boats. Other luxury lodging choices in Udaipur include both the Shiv Niwas Palace Hotel, and the Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel, both of which enjoy scenic lakeside locations.
