One of India's foremost exhibition venues, the Pragati Maidan regularly hosts major book fairs, expositions and exhibitions. With striking contemporary architecture covering several acres, this vast complex is always busy and strategically sited within New Delhi city centre. Permanent exhibitions are housed within the pavilions, while the onsite Anarkali Bazaar shopping centre is a good place to find quality souvenirs.

The Balloon Club of India

The perfect way to appreciate the size and layout of the city of New Delhi, hot-air balloon rides have been operated by the Balloon Club of India since 1970. Passing many of the city's many attractions and forts, these popular balloon rides can hold up to ten passengers and are especially popular in November, when the Balloon Mela takes place.

Located close to New Delhi city centre and always a big hit with children, the National Zoological Park covers almost 200 acres / 80 hectares and was founded in the late 1950s. Known for its conservation work, the zoo features a number of popular attractions, including trolley rides, eateries and various events, such as Wildlife Week in October, and Zoo Foundation Day each November. Amongst the main animal attractions are Indian crocodiles, Macaw parrots, owls, falcons, antelope, giraffe, leopards, lions, white tigers and chimpanzees.

Appu Ghar

One of New Delhi's top tourist attractions, the Appu Ghar is this major theme park, filled with fast rides and roller coasters. Especially popular with families, the park is within easy reach of the city centre and also features a big wheel, 3D films, car racing, dungeons and a range of entertainment. The Oysters Water Park is especially popular and provides a great way to cool down on the hottest of days, being used for winter sports out of season. Various restaurants and gift shops complete the main attractions at the Appu Ghar.

Hazrat Nizamuddin

Nizamuddin's Dargah

Close to Humayun's tomb, Nizamuddin's Dargah is a particularly famous New Delhi shrine and features a series of tombs and attractive mosques. Nearby attractions include a collection of small speciality shops and street performers. Nizamuddin's Dargah is especially popular on Thursday evenings, when large crowds gather to pray.
