The New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport is the largest in India and all of South Asia, handling nearly 40 million passengers annually. Current expansion plans aim for an annual capacity of 100 million travellers by 2030. Most airlines from India and around the world provide regular flights to New Delhi, making this airport the principal entry point for India.
There are two massive terminals based here, along with a dedicated terminal for Hajj pilgrims. Terminal 1 is for domestic flights only, while the new state-of-the-art Terminal 3 handles both domestic and international flights. Around ten Indian carriers call this airport home and another 80+ airlines operate regular scheduled flights here.
Passengers will find an impressive array of amenities at New Delhi's airport, especially in Terminal 3, which covers a vast area of roughly 300 acres / 121 hectares and handles some 90 percent of the facility's overall traffic. Everything from duty free to a wealth of shops and eateries come together to offer plenty of diversion for those waiting for a flight.
Transportation from the airport into the city can be accomplished by metro, bus, taxi, hotel shuttle and car hire. The eight-lane Gurgaon Expressway helps keep travel time to and from the city to a minimum, no matter where your final destination may be.

The New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport is located 22 km / 14 miles south-west of the centre of New Delhi, in between Mehram Nagar and Shahbad Mohammadpur. Its new Terminal 3 is the world's eighth-largest passenger terminal and remains an impressive feat of design, with more amenities than the average traveller could possibly ever need or wish for.

Cars and Taxis
A small army of taxis are on call at the New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport, 24 hours-a-day, to provide fixed-rate services into the city. Car hire is another popular option for many travellers. Carzonrent, an Indian firm, offers chauffeur-driven town cars and limos, as well as regular rental cars complete with their very own drivers. Their fleet stocks everything from top-end Mercedes to practical sedans. The Gurgaon Expressway is an eight-lane highway running from the airport into the city. This drive should take around 30 to 45 minutes.
Buses
A complimentary shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes between the domestic and international terminals. State-run buses connect the airport to central Delhi, including the Interstate Bus Terminal and Connaught Place. These buses depart every 30 minutes from a stop situated across from the Centaur Hotel, with the expected journey time being around 45 minutes.
Trains
The Delhi Metro has an airport express line that runs from 05:00 to 23:00, every 20 minutes or so. The Metro departs from its station at Terminal 3, stopping at destinations such as Aerocity, Connaught Place, the New Delhi Railway Station and Dhaula Kuan. This is the cheapest and most hassle-free way to travel into the city, if you don't have much luggage.
