Photo showing the Guilin Art MuseumThere really are only two museums of note within Guilin, each of which offers an overview of the city's rich history and Chinese culture, as well as providing a taster of life in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The Guilin Museum is spread over three floors and comprises a total of four connecting exhibition halls, grouped as historical relics, minority folklore, international gift exchanges, and porcelains of Ming and Qing dynasties.

Serving as the only art museum within the whole of Guangxi, the Guilin Art Museum is home to an impressive collection of paintings, both old and new. This gallery also boasts regular temporary exhibitions of fine art, while the second floor offers a commercial space, where art works on display are available for purchase and often created by burgeoning Chinese artists of the future.

Guilin Museum

Located within the West Mountain Park, the Guilin Museum first opened its doors to the public in the mid-sixties and celebrates the region's rich cultural heritage. There are more than 20,000 individual relics and treasures within the collection, with the blue and white ceramics from China's Ming and Qing dynasties being particularly special. The 'Presents from International Exchanges' is also an interesting attraction within the museum and features a rather diverse mixture of exhibits, each of which was gifted to the city from various global nations.
