Zimbabwe Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Zimbabwe, ZW, Southern Africa)

Broadly speaking, Zimbabwe's climate can be described as tropical. However, temperatures and rainfall do vary from one place to the other. Largely, this variation in weather depends upon altitude and whether you are staying in the north or south of the country.

May to September is a dry, cool time of year in Zimbabwe. With the rain finally gone, the countryside starts to dry out.

From June to August, evenings tend to become cooler, so it is wise to come prepared with warmer clothes, particularly for when you are out and about after dark or dining al fresco in the evening. This is a good time to head off on safari, with more and more game sightings possible.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

November to March marks the rainy season in Zimbabwe. November itself can be a rather unpredictable month, with the first smatterings of rain making themselves known.

In general, it is fair to say that the further north you happen to be, the earlier the rain arrives and the longer the rainy season typically lasts.
