Great Salt Lake

The second saltiest lake in the world and the largest US lake west of the Mississippi River, this 1,700 square mile lake is 75 miles / 120 km long and 28 miles / 45 km wide. A popular haven for wildlife, Great Salt Lake attracts millions of migratory birds each year to the ten islands within it. Its salty quality means it is fish free, with the largest aquatic creatures to inhabit the lake being brine shrimp. Two and a half million tons of sodium chloride is extracted from the lake by the salt industry annually.

Popular with all ages, this premier water attraction is situated on the outskirts of Salt Lake City and boasts 30 water slides and various other water features to keep you cool. Attractions include a water rollercoaster, half million gallon wave pool, 12,000 square foot Astroturf deck with sun loungers, slow moving river and hot tubs. With many features designed especially for children, this is a great place for a family day out.

At the Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, in Salt Lake City's suburbs, you can enjoy excellent skiing and fishing all year round, and take a ride on the 125 passenger Aerial Tram that carries visitors from an elevation of 8,100 feet to 11,000 feet in less than 8 minutes. Wheeler Historic Farm is a historic 100-year-old farm that gives visitors the opportunity to milk cows, ride a tractor or wagon and learn about the live of farmers and their agricultural skills in the Salt Lake City area.
