If you are spending more than a day or two in Fort Worth, then it is likely you will start to think about the possibility of a day trip or two, and with so many attractions surrounding the city, it is easy to see why excursions are so popular.

Of course, at the top of most sightseers' lists is the metropolis of Dallas, since this giant is so close by. Dallas is located just a little over 30 miles / 48 km to the west of Fort Worth and is packed with places of interest. The principal attractions in this city are the World Aquarium, Dallas Zoo, the Reunion Tower Restaurant, the John F. Kennedy Memorial and the Dallas Museum of Art, amongst numerous others.

Tourists staying in Fort Worth with a hire car will find that lots of highways and interstates surround Fort Worth in all directions, meaning that heading out of the city is both easy and usually quite fast. Possible day trips for drivers include Bridgeport and its boating lake, the plentiful wineries of Grapevine, the family themed Dinosaur Valley State Park at Glen Rose and the Lake Mineral Wells State Park.

The town of Weatherford lies approximately 30 miles / 48 km to the west of Fort Worth, via interstate I-20, and is reachable by road in roughly 45 to 50 minutes. Weatherford offers a number of tourist draws, such as its Clark Gardens Botanical Park, Chandor Gardens, and the Doss Heritage and Cultural Center, all of which are particular highlights. If you are around in early July, then do try to check out Weatherford's hugely popular Parker County Peach Festival, which manages to attract close to 50,000 visitors each year and is held on the second Saturday of the month.
