Fort Worth Landmarks and Monuments

(Fort Worth, Texas - TX, USA)

The city's long and interesting history is clearly present in the form of its prominent landmarks and old buildings, while Fort Worth's strong ties with nearby Dallas are shown in the form of a monument to President John F. Kennedy and the gravesite of the infamous Lee Harvey Oswald.

Downtown Fort Worth contains a number of attractive and imposing Art Deco inspired buildings, which are in particularly good supply around the Sundance Square Plaza, along with shops, eateries and bars.

Close by you will discover the Tarrant County Courthouse on West Weatherford Street, which dates from 1893 and boasts a Renaissance Revival-style facade, complete with distinctive pink Texas granite. The Tarrant County Courthouse is similar in style to that of the Texas State Capitol, only on a smaller scale and without the big dome.

Located on the northern side of the downtown district is the Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District, which offers a noticeable Texan character and some very inviting nightspots, as well as weekly rodeo events and live country music. And just across from the Stockyards is the Livestock Exchange Building, built in the year 1903 for the use of cattle traders.

One of the tallest landmarks in Fort Worth is the 777 Main Street skyscraper, which was erected in the early 1980s and originally named the Continental Plaza, measuring in at some 160 meters / 525 feet in height.
