Tulsa Hotels and Accommodation

(Tulsa, Oklahoma - OK, USA)

Although Tulsa is not really known for its wealth of wonderful hotels, there is plenty of very reasonable accommodation spread around the city, comprising mainly chains and similar lodging. Many popular hotels can be found around Tulsa's commercial district of East 71st Street, which lies on the western side of the Arkansas River, along the Interstate I-44.

There is also a good selection of hotels close to the Tulsa International Airport (TUL), which is just 8 miles / 13 km to the northeast and next to Mohawk Park. Notable airport accommodation includes the Hilton Garden Inn on the East Virgin Court and the Radisson Inn on the North 77th East Avenue, both of which stand at the actual airport entrance and close to the passenger concourses.

Where to Stay

Popular budget hotels are located on South 79th East Avenue, South Yale Avenue and East Skelly Drive, as well of course as the Interstate I-44. Especially reliable is the Tulsa Econo Lodge Inn on the South 79th East Avenue and the Microtel Inn on the East Admiral Place, both of which offer cheap one-star accommodation. Similarly priced is the La Quinta Inn on East 41st Street, which lies on the southeasterly outskirts of the city and near to the Park Plaza Square Shopping Center.

A little more expensive and falling within the three-star lodging category is the DoubleTree Hotel on West 7th Street, which is actually directly next to the Tulsa Convention Center and conveniently close to the city's entertainment and business districts. Just a relatively short distance from the Greenwood Cultural Center on the North Greenwood Avenue is the Holiday Inn Express Hotel on West Cameron Street, while the Courtyard by Marriott on South 79th East Avenue is a short drive from the famous Tulsa State Fairground and Expo Center, where top attractions include the Big Splash Water Park, the Fair Meadows Race Track and Drillers Stadium (used for minor league baseball).

Situated in the heart of downtown Tulsa, the Holiday Inn City Center on West 7th Street is within easy walking distance of the Tulsa Convention Center and the Bank of Oklahoma (BOK) Center, which is an indoor sports and entertainment venue capable of seating almost 20,000 people. For luxury accommodation, the four-star Hotel Ambassador on South Main Street, within the Uptown district, ranks as the city's premier lodging choice and features an Italian Renaissance theme with oversized rooms. Other top-end hotels within Tulsa are to be found along the South Lewis Avenue and West 7th Street, where the Hilton and the DoubleTree hotels await respectively.

For a further choice of accommodation, consider staying outside of Tulsa and commuting each day to the attractions. Hotels are available in many of the surrounding Oklahoma towns and cities, such as Broken Arrow, Glenpool, Jenks, Owasso and Sapulpa.
