Asheville
My husband and I began visiting Asheville when my sister and her husband moved there. We have been to Asheville many times over the years and absolutely love it! First of all, Asheville is beautiful with lovely weather and gorgeous scenery. Presently, with retirement a few years down the road, we are looking to buy a house in Asheville that will be our permanent home. I can't say enough good things about this wonderful town...friendly people, loads of things to do and always...those breathtaking mountains!

The Jackson Building in Asheville
If you like tall buildings and skyscrapers then you will be blown away by the Jackson Building. This is relatively short by today's standards and was built in 1925, when it became western North Carolina's very first skyscraper, and in my opinion it still remains one of the most beautiful. It is 15 stories tall and described as Neo-Gothic is character. I liked the attention to detail, with gargoyles and many detailed features.

My thoughts of the Biltmore House
I am told that Biltmore House is the biggest resident in the USA, so you will very quickly realise that this is one big mother of a mansion. It was built at the end of the 19th century and is filled with priceless antiques and even has its very vineyard and winery. The formal gardens are everything that you would expect, with some awesome views thrown in to top things off.

The Mountains Around Asheville
Close to Asheville are some exceptional mountain resorts, such as those along the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and beyond. These resorts are really busy in the winter, when winter sports are the order of the day. They're just as nice in the summer though, and much quieter. A good place for a hike and to contemplate life, the universe and everything.
