Located within the Julia Davis Park and home to a large, permanent collection of art works, the Boise Art Museum was founded in the 1930s and houses 15 spacious galleries. Attractions include a sculpture garden, exhibitions by local Idaho artists, guided tours and popular seasonal events. The city's zoo is relatively close by, as is the Discovery Center of Idaho and the Flicks movie theater.

As well as boasting an outstanding setting, the city is also home to a large Basque community, the ancestors of early immigrants that arrived from the Spanish Basque region. The Basque Museum and Cultural Center delves into the heritage of these interesting people with worthwhile collections, exhibits and tours. If you have time on your hands, you may also like to pay a visit to the nearby Qwest Arena, the Boise Center on the Grove, or the City Hall, all of which are within easy walking distance.

Idaho State Historical Museum

Standing in downtown Boise, the Idaho State Historical Museum is dedicated to the history of prehistoric cultures in the area, including information about Native Americans and the pioneer settlements. Founded around 100 years ago, this is the most popular museum in both the city and state, with highlights including details about the gold rush, fur trade exhibits and many important local artifacts.
