Dover Art Galleries

(Dover, Delaware - DE, USA)

Several very decent galleries live in the city of Dover, the majority of which operate on a commercial basis and regularly display the works of regional Delaware artists.

The centrally located Sewell C. Biggs Museum of American Art is especially noteworthy and ranks amongst the city's best galleries. It resides in between the Legislative Green Park and The Green, where it stands on Federal Street, close to the Dover Methodist Church.

Certainly a visit worth considering is the Delaware Art Museum, which is to be found roughly an hour to the north of downtown Dover, being located in the state's biggest city of Wilmington. This esteemed gallery now dates back more than a century, since it was founded in the year 1912, when it began its life as the Wilmington Society of Fine Arts.
