Stockton Tourist Attractions and Sightseeing

Far from being a small city, Stockton has clearly invested money in order to attract tourists and visitors, with numerous performing arts venues and organisations being present within the city.

These attractions range from the city's very own School of Performing Arts and Ballet School, to the Pacific Theater at the University of the Pacific and the Stockton Symphony Orchestra, which was founded in the mid-1920s and regularly performs at the San Joaquin Delta College's Atherton Auditorium. Located at the Greenhouse Shopping Center, the Bob Hope Theater can seat audiences of just under 2,050 people and offers year-round theatrical performances, concerts, musical shows and comedy gigs.

The Stockton Civic Theater on Rosemarie Lane sits alongside Lake Venezia, on the northwestern side of the city, where it has a long and interesting history, being an important modern-day tourist attraction and entertainment venue. Some of the earliest theatrical performances in the city began in the 1850s, during the famous Gold Rush days, followed by early incarnations such as the Yosemite Theater and the Masonic Music Hall. However, it wasn't until the year 1980 that the City's Civic Theater of today was opened in this purpose-built venue, after years of fundraising.


Victory Park is a beautiful recreational attraction in Stockton city center. The park is called home by the Haggin Museum and covers more than 8 hectares / 20 acres. Mature trees provide shade on sunny days and the rose garden adds both color and fragrance, while local families often come to the ponds to feed the ducks, enjoy a picnic or play tennis.
