San Jose has a continual list of diverse tourist attractions within the city's environs that are sure to entice the whole family. There are several parks in the city of San Jose that contain with fantastic tourist attractions, such as the Happy Hollow Park and Zoo in Kelly Park and the giant monopoly game at Monopoly in the Park.

Mummies and historical artifacts reside in San Jose's brilliant Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and Planetarium, while the huge Winchester Mystery House has to be seen to be believed.




Winchester Mystery House

Winchester Mystery House is a monumental mansion that took 38 years of continual construction to complete and includes 160 rooms, with such oddities and attractions as blank walls behind doors, a staircase that goes nowhere and 13 bathrooms, 13 chandeliers and 13 palm trees on the driveway. The work was ordered by Sarah Winchester, the famous gun maker's widow, who upon the death of her husband and daughter was instructed to carry out the work on the San Jose mansion by a fortune teller proclaiming her family had been targeted by evil spirits. It was said that the constant construction would appease and confound the spirits and much of her US$20 million fortune was spent on the project.

Happy Hollow Park and Zoo

Located in Kelly Park, Happy Hollow Park and Zoo is great for the kids, with numerous rides and amusements as well as many exotic animals. Chief among the attractions at San Jose's Hollow Park and Zoo are the carousels and puppet castle theater, while the play and picnic areas add an extra dimension for the whole family. In addition, the zoo has a contact area where you can touch some of the more friendly animals.

Monopoly in the Park

San Jose's Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum and Planetarium has a permanent display of mummies, both human and animal, as well as jewelry, bronze tools, pottery and funerary boats. The museum is an educational organization stemming from the ancient Egyptians and one of the most interesting attractions here is the replica of a tomb of an important Egyptian.
