Cayo Guillermo Hotels and Accommodation

Nearly everyone who visits Cayo Guillermo stays at one of the all-inclusive accommodation options on the island. This is the way things are done in this part of Cuba, and thankfully they do an excellent job with the few lodging options on offer.

Your resort hotel will likely include all of your meals, some of your beach activities, and perhaps even a bit of evening entertainment. Of course, if you want to visit Cayo Guillermo or Cayo Coco on your own terms, there are hotels just across the causeway, on the mainland at Morón.

Where to Stay

All of the accommodation on Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco (connected by a natural causeway) is located on the eastern half of the island. There are a handful of beaches where the hotels tend to be concentrated, such as Playa Guillermo and Playa Coco, which are the most active areas. Since most of the resorts are all-inclusive, guests tend to stick around their hotel, which provides all the amenities and facilities needed to enjoy the beach.

Nearly all of the resorts on the island are four- or five-star properties, but some are certainly nicer than others. On Cayo Guillermo, it doesn't get any fancier than the Meliá Cayo Guillermo Revie. Fronting one of the nicest stretches of beach in the cays, the hotel wraps around a massive pool area supported by several restaurants and bars.

Cayo Coco's top accommodation is the Meliá Cayo Coco. One of the finest resorts in Cuba, this elegant complex has a stylish air with more than 70 chic bungalows along the pristine bay at Playa Las Coloradas. The Iberostar Daiquiri Hotel is another stunner and a favourite choice for families, due to the wealth of kid's activities and programs on offer. Sol Cayo Coco is also a top pick for families travelling with children.

Sol Cayo Guillermo had a complete makeover of late and now has even more personality than before to match its relaxed atmosphere. One of the newcomers to the cays is the NH Krystal Laguna Villas and Resort, where extensive grounds are filled with facilities, with some truly spectacular private villas for rent.
