(Bridgetown, Saint Michael, Barbados)

Visitors often make Bridgetown their base while staying on Barbados, as attractions across the island can be reached within literally just a few minutes' drive. East of Bridgetown is Bathsheba, a loosely-organised community hugging the east coast and featuring beautiful gardens and the best surfing beaches on the island.

One of the most popular attractions in Barbados, Harrison's Cave is located to the north, towards the interior. Beyond this, there are several historic sugar plantations and estates dotting the countryside, suiting excursions and day trips.

Harrison's Cave

Address: Welchman Hall, St. Thomas, Barbados
Tel: +1 246 438 6640
This marvelous natural attraction is not to be missed, being created by the natural process of water erosion, wearing away the limestone rock over many thousands of years. The cathedral-like cavern was first discovered at the end of the 18th century, although remained forgotten and unexplored until the 1970s. Soon after Harrison's Cave was developed as one of the island's leading tourist magnets. The centrepiece of the tour is a tram ride through the cave, during which you will see the Cascade Pool, the Rotunda Room and scores of bizarre stalactite formations.
