Salou Weather, When to Go and Climate Information

(Salou, Catalonia, Spain)

The climate in this part of Catalonia is typical for Mediterranean resorts. The weather in Salou isn't as hot as it is toward the interior, and conditions on the beach are comfortable in all but the coldest months. Hot daytime temperatures in July and August are tempered by cooling sea breezes.

During the low season (November to March), temperatures are cool enough that swimming is out of the question. Rainfall also makes this season less than ideal for sightseeing or outdoor activities. Port Aventura completely closes down after the Christmas and New Year's season, and there's little reason to visit Salou at this time.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

The summertime climate in Salou sees temperatures regularly reach between 26°C / 79°F and 30°C / 86°F. Temperatures can rise quite a bit higher than this from time to time, and there are certain days when sightseeing during the heat of the day is ill advised. The weather is dry and sunny at this time of year, so it's important to drink plenty of water while at the beach or touring the town.

Evening lows approach (but seldom reach) freezing temperatures during December and January. Salou sees a quick influx of visitors at this time, mostly pensioners and families celebrating the holidays. February is just as cold, with mixed weather breaching the Pyrenees and delivering plenty of rain. On the coldest days, this can turn to snow, but it never accumulates or otherwise disrupts.
