Salou Hotels and Accommodation

(Salou, Catalonia, Spain)

Hotels in Salou are busiest from June to August, when visitors who haven't booked their room in advance have a slim selection at best. Accommodation is divided between the waterfront and the inland theme park area, the latter of which offers better value.

Local hotels are required to display their star rating in front, so you can get an idea of the facilities without going inside. If it worth noting that some of the smaller lodging options in Salou close down completely from January to March.

Where to Stay

Most of the hotels in Salou are right on the waterfront, in easy reach of beaches and attractive natural headlands. A range of options is available, though most of what's found here on the beach is in the three- to four-star range. Budget hotels are a little farther inland, but still within walking distance of downtown beaches.

The Magnolia Hotel is a popular place for honeymooners. It's right in the middle of Salou's main beach area, but fosters plenty of privacy for its guests. The price of accommodation includes access to a wellness spa, trendy lounge bar, Turkish baths and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.

During the summer, the hotels at Port Aventura teem with families. The hotels are themed, many with an aim to delight younger visitors. The two major establishments here are the Hotel Gold River and the Villa Mediterránea. These are solid four-star choices and accommodation is bundled together with tickets to the park, so that families and groups can afford serious discounts on the entire package.

A better value-for-money lodging option is the Hotel Sol Costa Daurada, which stands by the train station that connects central Salou to Port Aventura. During the hours that the train is running, noise can be an issue, but anyone looking for savings and not planning to spend much time here outside of sleeping hours will be more than satisfied.
