Salou Beaches and Water Sports

(Salou, Catalonia, Spain)

Beaches are one of Salou's core attractions, especially in the decades since the port has become more quiet. The beachfront of Salou is well developed and sunbathers are never far from facilities such as bars, restaurants, hotels, gift shops and play areas for children. There are even some interesting sculptures to add a touch of class.

Moving east to west across the Salou waterfront, the first sandy stretch encountered is Llenguadets Beach. This is joined by a headland that juts far into the Mediterranean.

General Information

Next is the sheltered Capellans Beach and the broad and sandy Llevant Beach, which is amongst the biggest in the area and hosts a landscaped esplanade with excellent amenities. The Passeig de Jaume 1 is here with its monument, as well as a host of shops and seafood eateries. Moving on from there is the harbour and Ponent Beach.

Ponent has similar offerings and tends to attract more locals from around Salou. Both Llevant and Ponent provide parking and water sports along the lines of windsurfing and jet skiing.

Outside the main resort area is a series of quieter coves and gold-sand beaches that are ideal for picnics and out-of-town escapes. A few of these are on local bus routes and therefore stay busier.
