Malaga Landmarks and Monuments

Many historical churches and structures have become important landmarks and monuments in central Malaga, adding a certain character to the city. With both a Muslim and Roman heritage, one of Malaga's most ancient landmarks is the 9th-century fortress of La Alcazaba, which is well-preserved.

Other notable landmarks in Malaga include the Gibralfaro Castle (Castillo de Gibralfaro) - which was built in the 1300s, and Malaga Cathedral (La Catedral) - a magnificent building situated in the heart of the city.

Castillo de Gibralfaro (Gibralfaro Castle)

The impressive 14th-century Castillo de Gibralfaro can be found in the La Victoria district of Malaga. As well as a small museum, visitors can explore the ruins and enjoy the stunning harbour and city views.

La Catedral (Malaga Cathedral)

La Catedral, standing in the city centre of Malaga, dates back to the 16th century. This grand cathedral was built on the former site of the main mosque and features a wealth of paintings, wooden choir stalls and impressive Spanish Renaissance architecture.
