Ireland's tallest mountain
We have enjoyed hiking all over Europe from our country, Sweden, and decided some time ago that we would like to tackle Carrantuohill. Even though there was famous Irish rain, it was a good time had by us and the four mile walk back to our town centre accommodation wasn't frustrating.

Killarney National Park took the prize
We too decided that hiking around Killarney National Park sounded like great fun, and I think we might have had the same guide? Did you take the boat from Ross Castle with the locals? Great fun. Whenever in Killarney National Park, we felt completely at one with our surroundings and nature.

Be your own tour guide
The Gap of Dunloe was next for us after enjoying Killarney National Park and it must be said that the scenery was just as riveting there. We had great freedom by trying to do things our way without tour guides and had a blast.

A true taste of the Emerald Isle
The scenery is one of the main elements that drew us to Ireland in the first place, and where better to enjoy it than Killarney National Park? We went there on quite a few days of our holiday as there was just so much to explore. The guide we had had a great sense of humour although, as Americans, we found his accent a little testing at times!

Just what I was looking for
I travelled alone to Ireland as a fan of the country's history and fascinating mythology. Because of this, Ross Castle was the first attraction on my Killarney itinerary and I wasn't disappointed! This great monument is now six centuries old and the only complaint I have is that I wasn't able to see the ghost that everyone is so fearful of!
