Kos Island International Airport Hippocrates (KGS) Information

(Kos, Dodecanese, Greece)

The Kos Island Hippocrates International Airport serves the Dodecanese island of Kos, in south-eastern Greece. Flights land here from all over Europe with major budget carriers EasyJet and Ryanair. Charter flights are also received, especially between June and September.

The airport is quite large considering that this is actually one of Greece's smallest islands, but it can become crowded in the height of summer. There is just one terminal and facilities are lacking. However, flying here is the fastest way to arrive on the island, although it is also possible to fly to 'nearby' Bodrum in Turkey, and then take a ferry.

The main airlines serving Kos Airport are Thomas Cook, Olympic Air, Monarch, EasyJet and Ryanair, along with local carriers Olympic Air, Aegean Airlines and Astra Airlines. Of note, both Olympic Air and Aegean Airlines offer daily flights to Athens.

Buses

The KTEL public bus serves Kos Town (via Mastichari) and the main resorts, although most arrivals are a part of comprehensive package tours and have transfers included. Those flying with Olympic Air tend to have transport laid on, while hotel minibuses are also on-hand.

Taxis

Airport taxis are quite steep for the relatively short distances involved, even to nearby Kardamena and Mastichari. The latter destination is where the ferry to Kalymnos Island departs. GTR Professional is a popular taxi company at the Kos Island Hippocrates International Airport. Kos Town is 30 minutes away by taxi.
