Photo of ruinsThe Greek island of Kos is a true tourist Mecca, with endless summer sunshine and a very appealing semi-tropical climate. All through the year, temperatures on Kos are pleasant, ranging from 13°C / 55°F or 14°C / 57°F to January, to 30°C / 86°F or more in July, the height of summer.

The summer climate on Kos stretches from early May, right up to the very end of October. Not only are the island's summers very warm and sunny, but extremely dry, with rainy weather being almost completely unheard at this time of the year.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

December tends to experience the highest levels of precipitation, 300 mm / 11.8 inches at most, although the rainy winter weather is still interspersed with plenty of sunshine. The climate on Kos soon begin to improve and by April, the likelihood of rain is much less, with precipitation levels for the entire month being around 90 mm / 3.5 inches.

Many tourists choose to visit Kos in May or October, when it is still warm, sunny and fairly dry, and the beaches are less crowded than they are during July or August.
