Photo of St. Tropez quayfront promenadeTourists tend to come to Saint Tropez each year to soak up the sun on a sandy beach, enjoy the glamour and celebrity status of the resort, and possibly even spot a famous movie star or two, milling around the place - there are always things to do. With such a thriving tourism industry, Saint Tropez does offer a number of particular seasonal festivals and popular events, often relating to the coastline and surrounding region, so do check what's on when you first arrive.

The Place des Lices is often very much central to the action and Provençal markets are held on this square twice weekly, on the mornings of each Tuesday and Saturday. There is also a daily fish market in Saint Tropez, on the Place aux Herbes.

St. Tropez Calendar of Festivals and Events 2014 / 2015

At the end of May and beginning of June, the start of summer in Saint Tropez is heralded with a series of religious festivals and parades through the resort, complete with music, dancing and even military displays. This event is known as the Fête de la Bravade and is always a crowd pleaser.

Other important events in Saint Tropez include the Fête des Espagnols, a festival held on 5th June to celebrate the town's successful defence, when the Spanish tried to invade during the 16th century. September is another month of interest, and as autumn approaches, the grape harvest begins at the various surrounding vineyards and this festival is known as the Fête des Vendanges. The event is followed by a sailing regatta at the beginning of October, which attracts scores of huge yachts and crowds of spectators.
