The temperate climate of Narva is relatively cool for much of the year, with harsh winters and brief summers, when sunny weather results in pleasantly warm temperatures. Daylight hours at the end of June are long and last for almost 20 hours, with highs exceeding 20°C / 68°F during the best weather.

Conversely, the winter climate is much colder and darker. The winter months in Narva and throughout Estonia in general are known for being quite dull and frosty, and on the shortest days, feature just six hours of daylight. February, March and April tend to feature the driest weather, when precipitation levels hover around 100 mm / 3.9 inches, compared to August, which is the wettest month in Narva, when downpours result in monthly precipitation levels reaching almost 300 m / 11.8 inches.

However, don't be alarmed by the fact that the summer weather in Narva can be damp, it can also be extremely sunny and perfect for sightseeing, picnicking in the parks and dining outside. At times the climate can really heat up, although it is quite unusual for temperatures to reach anywhere near 27°C / 81°F or 28°C / 82°F.

Winters in Narva can be cold, with almost endless frosty weather, both day and night, and at times, heavy snowstorms. February tends to feature the coldest climate in Narva, when daytime temperatures drop to just below freezing and by night, fall as low as -10°C / 14°F. March is not really a great time to visit, since everything becomes slushy, as the winter thaw begins and the first glimpses of the Estonian spring arrive.
