However, public transport is on hand for those in Narva looking to travel a little further, connecting the majority of the main attractions, outlying suburbs and neighbouring towns.

Each day, approximately 15 buses travel between Narva and Tallinn. Additional bus transport operated by Ecolines runs to many of the Baltic states, including Germany, Russia, and the Ukraine. Popular Russian destinations linked to Narva by buses include both Moscow and St. Petersburg, while Minsk is also reachable, being located to the south and in Belarus.

Tallinn Ulemiste Airport is the main transport hub in the whole of Estonia and features international flights all over Europe. Estonia Air is the main airline at the airport and flies to almost 20 different destinations. Other significant airlines include easyJet, FlyNordic, KLM, Lufthansa, Czech Airlines and also Scandinavian Airlines. Tallinn's airport is well connected to cities such as Narva by bus, although the journey lasts around three and a half hours. Tartu Airport (TAY) is also a similar distance from Narva and to the south-west, with regularly buses providing the cheapest way to travel between these two cities.

Car Rental

Those choosing to rent a car in Narva will find that this is a good way to travel around both the city and the surrounding countryside, with many places of interest close by and made all the more accessible by car. These include the lively holiday resort of Narva Joesuu and the ever-popular Endla Nature Reserve. Car rental is also readily available at both Tallinn Airport and Tartu Airport, while in the city, the main rental outlets reside along stretches such as the Kadaka Tee, the Liivalaia Tänav and the Rävala Puiestee.

Buses and Coaches

Buses provide one of the best and cheapest ways for visitors to travel around Narva and this public mode of transport connects all of the main attractions, suburbs and shopping centres. The city's bus station is easy to find and is situated along the Vaksali Tänav, around 1 km / 0.5 miles from the actual city centre.

Trains

Trains provide a comfortable way to arrive in Narva and also to travel to many towns and cities all over Estonia. Daily trains run to Tallinn and stops at Rakvere along the way. The total time for this journey is just over three hours and the cost is quite comparable to bus transport. Narva's railway station is located on the Toompuiestee, on the outskirts of the Old Town, and also features train transport travelling between Moscow and St. Petersburg, amongst other long-distance destinations.
