Narva Shopping and Districts

(Narva, Ida-Virumaa, Estonia)

View of Narva MonumentThe shopping on offer in Narva is more than reasonable and consists of various stores around central streets, along with local markets. Narva is also now currently home to no less than three rather Western-style shopping malls, which are particularly appealing to tourists and offer the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Most of the shops in Narva open between the hours of 10:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday, and again from 10:00 to 15:00 on Saturdays. However, the shopping mall and supermarkets tend to operate longer hours and remain open as late as 21:00 or 22:00, Monday through Sunday.

Where to Shop

The main places to shop in the city include the Astri Keskus, which is the largest of all of the shopping centres in Narva. The Astri Keskus is located along the Tallinna Mnt and is close to both the Vöidu Prospekt and the Kangelaste Prospekt, and this is not only a shopping mall, but a modern entertainment complex, comprising a cinema and tenpin bowling.

Other significant shopping centres in Narva include the recently extended Fama, which is extremely close to the Astri Keskus and is home to over 20 different retail units, including a bank, pharmacy, supermarket (Rimi Hüpermarket), fast-food outlets, jewellers and a travel agency. Finally, the Kerese Keskus completes this trio of shopping centres in Narva and is to be found on the corner of the Kosmonaudi and Kerese.

A new glitzy shopping mall is currently under construction in Narva. To be known as the Akropolis, this mall is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2009 and will reside along the streets of Tiimani and Tallinna.
