Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
Do you mean one day wasn't enough at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard or that it wasn't enough in Portsmouth itself? If it's the former then I would definitely agree. Just so much to see and do while there!

Re. Top of the tower
If it's views you're after, then I would definitely recommend Portchester Castle too. There is also a great view from there on a lovely and clear day. Unfortunately it's much further from the city centre when compared to the tower - around 2.8 miles to be exact.

History and maritime education combined
The Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth is among the best maritime-related attractions I have ever visited in the UK and allows you to simply do it all. This involved going aboard HMS Victory and HMS Warrior while the Mary Rose Museum is also worth a look too. Couldn't help but feel that one day here just wasn't enough.

Top of the tower
I always look for the best views of the town or city I'm in whenever there on holiday and the Spinnaker Tower is the best place for looking down on Portsmouth. This is a great observation deck or tower just over half a mile from the town centre of Portsmouth and you're able to see for miles around in the event that you go on a clear day.

Essential for historians
Moving stuff at the D-Day Museum in Portsmouth. I was shocked to learn that this is the only museum that is solely dedicated to the covering of all events related to the Normandy D-Day landings and if this is anything to go by, then that's a great injustice to the people of the UK!
