Beachfront picture, showing the South Parade PierThe coastline of Portsmouth stretches for around 7 km / 4 miles, between Eastney and the Old Portsmouth area, and includes a number of pebbly / flint gravel beaches and stretches with fine golden sand.

Southsea, on the southern shore of Portsea Island, is where all of the beaches and related attractions are located in Portsmouth. Eastney Beach is particularly popular in Portsmouth and stands alongside the Southsea Esplanade, next to Henderson Road and St. George's Road.

Offering traditional seaside fun and amusements, Clarence Pier and the South Parade Pier both reside next to the Southsea beaches and are quite different in their appearance. Refreshments are available at the Portsmouth piers and in various kiosks and cafes near to the beachfront.
