Grosvenor Hotel
The Grosvenor Hotel is a mediocre hotel, just like it is on television. The food is boring, I saw sausage and mash on the menu there. Our room wasn't incredibly clean, but they were good enough to stay in. The staff, however, were wonderful. They were happy all of the time that I had been there. I went there because of the programme. It is the absolute definition of cheap and cheerful, so only go there if you want to go to the hotel that is on tv.

History Coming Alive
The most historical building of Torbay, built in 1196 is a fascinating way to trace back 800 years of monastery development. I would put aside at least 2 hours to get the most out of this marvelous building because there is just so much to see. My favorite was the Agatha Christie Memorial Room.

Re: History Coming Alive
Is it Torre Abbey Mansion that you speak of? I think that is the most historical building in Torbay. I agree that you need to give yourself plenty of time to really see the entire mansion. I didn't enjoy the Agatha Christie room as much as art galleries they have, but then again I have never been much of an Agatha Christie fan.

Evening Stroll
In Torquay, the picturesque town of Torbay I found myself walking most evenings along from Tor Abbey Sands towards the inner harbor. It doesn't take that long and is mostly flat. It is perfect for an after dinner wonder and to take in the views of the bustling cafes and bars along the way.

Animal Crazy
My children are crazy about Zoos, so every holiday we embark on we have to check out the local Zoo. In Torbay this year we headed out to Paignton Zoo. What a great day! I think I enjoyed it as much, if not more, than the little ones. The good values of the Zoo were obvious and I didn't feel that there was any cruelty. The founder created the Zoo in 1923 to promote education and conservation and this is evident today still. There is a miniature train and a jungle bridge which adds that extra bit of excitement.

Re: Animal Crazy
My children are also mad about any attraction that has animals. Paignton Zoo was enjoyable for them and I was really happy with the restaurants on site too. I loved the train ride!
