Torbay Hotels and Accommodation

(Brixham / Paignton / Torquay - Torbay, Devon, England, UK)

Picture of Brixham HarbourAs a leading Devon seaside destination, Torbay caters well for holiday makers and provides a good choice of hotels, offering well-placed accommodation, close to the beaches and main attractions. Hotels in Torbay are understandably at their busiest during the summer season, when demand is high and the lodging rates rise.

Out of season, Torbay does lose much of its appeal, although in times of fine weather, a walk along the deserted beach can be quite special. Winter breaks here are considerably cheaper, although at Christmas time, many hotels, guest houses, B&Bs and similar accommodation options once again become fully booked. Those arriving here without first arranging their lodging should pay a visit to the English Riviera Tourist Board at Torquay, where helpful staff will be happy to assist you and make a booking on your behalf.

Where to Stay

Adventure seekers looking to holiday in Torbay may like to consider one of the popular Riviera Rush breaks, where the package includes not only the hotel, but also various exciting activities and water sports, such as windsurfing, water skiing and scuba diving.

Others may simply prefer a little seaside chic and luxury accommodation, and Torquay's four-star Palace Hotel on Babbacombe Road certainly delivers on all levels, ranking as the most prestigious that Torbay has to offer and rather resembling an opulent manor hotel in its appearance. On a somewhat smaller scale although equally upmarket is Braddon Hall on Braddons Hill Road East, which is situated just metres from the harbourfront and is proud of its Victorian elegance.

The Paignton Palace Hotel is the town's finest and enjoys a stunning setting, directly across from the seafront and Paignton Green.

At the opposite end of the Torbay lodging spectrum, the Torquay International Backpackers Hostel on Abbey Road is cheap and extremely welcoming, regularly organising beach barbecues and pub outings, where all are welcome.

These include The Imperial Hotel on Park Hill Road, and the relatively nearby Grand Hotel on the Torbay Road, both of which feature guest rooms with wonderful seafront panoramas.

If you favour self-catering accommodation, then Torbay has a number of suitable opportunities. In Torquay, a selection of apartments reside on Meadfoot Road and around Corbyn Head. There are also some appealing holiday flats on Vansittart Road, near to the Torre Abbey Sands.
