Gornji Grad
Gornji Grad is the medieval centre of the city and a visit to this area is a great cultural experience. We saw the Old town Gate, which is now a religious site honouring the Virgin Mary. It is rumoured that if you light a candle here your prayers will be answered. There are lots of statues in this area and my favourite was one of St. George fighting a dragon. If you want to find it, it's near the National Theatre.

Strossmayer's Walkway
Loved this spot full of musicians and artists. In summer there are performances and there is a lovely view over the town.

Botanic Gardens
We were so tired after a few days of sightseeing that we decided to relax in the Botanical Gardens and have a picnic. This was the perfect spot as the gardens are well kept and it was not to far from our hotel.

Lakeside Fun
Jarun lake is a hub for activities and parties. The main feature is the lake where there are many water sports available and my husband tried windsurfing while we went rowing. We ate lunch at one of the lakeside bars but I hear that they are popular night-time spots too.

Re. Mimara Museum
We went to the museum on Monday and it was closed, leaving us very disappointed. Apparently most museums in Zagreb are shut on Sunday afternoons and Mondays.

Mimara Museum
There was so much to see at this museum and there are 3,700 artworks in the building. The exhibitions date back to prehistoric times and there are also some modern works on display. I was delighted to see the works of some of my favourite artists on display including Rembrandt and Goya.
