Located on the southern side of the city and alongside both the Martin Luckie Park and Wakefield Park, the Mornington Golf Club resides within the suburb of Berhampore and is just a 4-km / 2.5-mile drive from central Wellington. Visiting golfers will find plenty of equipment available to hire at this 18-hole course, along with a pro shop selling everything that you might need for a game. If you are short of time, you will be able to play a round of nine holes.

Visitors to the city may also like to check out the 18-hole Miramar Links Golf Club at Strathmore Park, which is sited on the south-eastern side of Wellington, where it lies alongside the city's international airport and next to Moa Point.

Situated on the north-easterly outskirts of Wellington, just past the Belmont Regional Park and within the neighbouring Lower Hutt region, the Manor Park Golf Club contains a highly regarded 18-hole course with exceptional views. Notable attractions include impressive fairways, mature landscaping, a number of challenging holes, a clubhouse and views of the Hutt River. Manor Park is one of the oldest golf courses in the area and was founded in 1913. From Wellington, the course can be reached via the Western Hutt Road.

Lying within the southerly Town Belt, the Mornington Golf Club is one of the city's most popular public courses and boasts views not only of the cityscape, but also of the south coastline. This is an especially affordable and friendly course, where Friday twilight rounds are popular during the long days of the summer. The club is owned by the council and features a lengthy history, being founded in 1916 in order to open up this sport to the less fortunate and make it affordable for everyone.

The Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club is located on the north-eastern outskirts of Wellington, on the scenic Kapiti Coast and alongside MacLean Park. This is one of the area's premier courses and it features stunning views, challenging holes, scenic fairways and a large professional clubhouse. Although the fees are more expensive than many of New Zealand's other nearby courses, the club has impressive facilities and regularly holds a number of exciting golf tournaments. Close by, the Kapiti Coast Airport lies to the south and serves as a useful point of reference.
