Those intending to swing their golf clubs in Charleston will find a couple of very notable courses within the boundaries of the city.

The Little Creek Golf Course lies on the eastern outskirts of the capital, being found along the aptly named Fairway Drive and just past the West Virginia Regional Technology Park Complex. The mountainous landscape here is all part of the charm and character of this 18-hole, 6,100-yard course, which was established in the early 1920s. It has since hosted many prestigious championships, such as both the State Women's Amateur and the Kanawha Valley Championship.

Another popular attraction for golfers visiting the city, the Edgewood Country Club (ECC) dates back to 1898, when it was founded as the Glenwood Athletic Club, and resides on the northern side of Charleston, next to Cato Park.

Apart from the course itself, a number of additional attractions are located onsite at the Little Creek, such as an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool, fine dining at the resident Sand Trap Restaurant, and a ballroom hosting many events throughout the course of the year. Of note, the Sunday buffet at the restaurant is especially popular, being served between the hours of 12:00 and 14:00.

This 18-hole golf club ranks itself as one of the very best in West Virginia and features an array of recreational attractions and activities for all family members. These include squash and tennis courts, a fitness and spa facility, a heated racing pool and a separate swimming pool for children. The onsite Grill Room Restaurant is on hand and serves up fine dining in a bistro-style setting.
