The Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens feature an amazing variety of gardens and flora set among wonderful landscapes along Oso Creek. Gardens include the Sensory Garden, the Water Garden and Hibiscus Garden, and there is also an Orchid House and Exhibit House. The complex contains extensive natural wetlands and protected native habitats, and the Shaded Bird and Butterfly Trail is definitely worthy of exploration, as is Gator Lake. In addition, the observation tower of the Greater Texas Coastal Birding Trail site offers fine views and a visitors' center.

Texas State Aquarium

Corpus Christi's Texas State Aquarium is a must-see attraction for those with an affinity for exotic creatures from the deep, where dolphins, sharks, and sting rays are all in residence. The entrance is an exhibit in itself, with models of whales and sharks on the walls and a glorified waterfall-come-tunnel entrance.

The USS Lexington

Known as the 'Blue Ghost' during WWII due to its blue paint job and an incorrect assumption by the Japanese that it had been sunk, The USS Lexington aircraft carrier is one of the most notable attractions in both Corpus Christi and the whole of Texas. Abled-bodied visitors can explore most of the ship, including the hospital and engine room, and there are many fascinating exhibits throughout, including a Navy Seal submarine.

The King Ranch

Birthplace of the American ranching industry, the King Ranch, a working cattle and horse ranch, is the oldest and largest of its kind in the world. Close to Corpus Christi , visitors can tour the ranch and learn about its fantastic history, including how the Santa Gertrudis cattle came about and the story behind the American Quarter Horse.
