T. F. Green State Airport (PVD) / Arriving by Air

Located just 10 miles / 16 km south of the city, T. F. Green State Airport serves as Providence's aerial gateway. The airport has daily scheduled connections from New York and Boston, as well as less frequent flights from other northeastern and Midwest air transportation hubs. Traveling into the city center is simple, with ground transport including numerous shuttles and taxis, awaiting each arrival.


Car Rental

All large US car rental travel agencies have offices at T. F. Green State Airport and in the city, with Dollar, Avis, Hertz, Budget, Thrifty, National and more all competing for your custom. Parking is difficult at times in Downcity, but other parts of Providence have ample parking, with most major attractions offering parking garages nearby.

Buses and Coaches

Providence is served not only by Greyhound transport, but also by Bonanza and Peter Pan bus lines, creating plenty of choices for those arriving to the city by coach. Coaches park at the Providence Bus Terminal, which is located outside the city center. Local buses shuttle passengers from the terminal to points throughout the city of Providence, or alternatively you can opt to use a taxi to travel to your accommodation.

Trains

Providence is a stop on the New York to Boston Amtrak line, with several trains running in each direction daily. Visitors intending to travel to Providence from Boston have the option of using the cheaper MBTA service that runs between the two cities on weekday mornings and evenings.

Several transport companies provide taxi services throughout the Providence area, operating from both the airport and bus terminal. Taxis can be hailed from the curb side or found at designated taxi stands spread out at regular intervals around Providence.
