A relatively small and compact state capital, Carson City comes with a surprisingly good choice of accommodation. Local city hotels tend to be clustered along Highway US-395, which also goes by the name of Carson Street and serves as the city's main thoroughfare, running in a north to south direction.

Particularly central is the Best Western Carson Station Hotel and Casino, which is located on South Carson Street and nearby Ormsby House (on South Curry Street). Also close by, further accommodation options include the Desert Hills Motel, the Plaza Hotel and Conference Center, and the Pioneer Motel, all of which offer cheap lodging rates and a convenient central location.

Situated just a couple of blocks away from the Nevada State Capitol is the Stewart Street Inn, while more lodging in the vicinity comes in the form of the Carson Nugget's City Center Hotel, the Silver Queen Inn and the Hardman House.

Where to Stay

Lying on the northern side of downtown Carson City, the Roundhouse Inn, Quality Inn and Frontier Motel all provide modern accommodation, close to both the Market Spot Shopping Center and the Carson Shopping Center.

Head further north and into the suburbs, the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites on North Carson Street features extremely competitively priced accommodation, which has the advantage of being nearby the North-South Freeway (Interstate I-580). Just a short drive away is the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center (west) and the city's airport (east), reached via Arrowhead Drive.

If you would like to base yourself outside of Carson City, then hotels close to the Spooner Lake Cross Country Ski Area, roughly 30 minutes to the west, may well appeal. Those lodging or camping here can take advantage of the area's proximity to Glenbrook Bay (Lake Tahoe), the Duane Bliss Peak, Deadman Point, the Captain Pomin Rock and the popular Glenbrook Golf Course.
